About Norma

At the time, she didn’t know that she was contributing towards her 10 thousand hours, but when she was about 10 years old, Norma decided to write a book. It was the December school holidays and she had already finished all the novels she’d taken out from the library. So, in the absence of new literature to enjoy, she took the ingenious step of writing something so she would have something to read.

In the years since then, she has moved on from writing about mysteries at a boarding school.

What has however remained, is an ardent passion for storytelling.

Spanning across hard news and soft news, from radio to television to print, her journalism career has been dedicated to being a conduit between audiences and content.

Digital media has opened up the options available for communication, and over the past few years, Norma has particularly enjoyed multimedia content creation and production. From podcasts to bespoke video channels to social media stories, she’s found it to be an exciting time to be in the field of communicating and connecting.

Most recently, Norma headed up the digital department for Ndalo Media, a South African publishing company that focused on business news, career and entrepreneurial content. One of her career highlights was interviewing former public protector and TIME 100 honoree, Thuli Madonsela. This was for the October 2016 cover of Destiny magazine.  Unfortunately, Ndalo Media became insolvent and is currently under liquidation.

Consequently, since February 2019, Norma has been freelancing as a Writer and Editor.

In June 2020, Norma published her first book We Need More Tables Navigating privilege in the face of poverty.

Her personal interests as both a consumer and creator include the African continent, entrepreneurship, education and social justice.
